Dry Chilli Fish- Simple healthy recipe by Artless Food

Rich in omega 3 fatty acids, proteins, vitamin C, antioxidants and minerals, fish acts as a brain booster and a low fat source of protein which makes it a healthier substitute to chicken and eggs. Known to keep heart diseases, cancer, cough and cold and other such ailments at bay, fish is a food that should be included in the diet regularly to complete the daily intake of nutrients.

Here is a delightfully simple fish preparation which can be enjoyed as a side dish with fried rice and noodles or can be had as a starter.So here’s a quick look at the ingredients.

Ingredients

Ingredients for marinating the fish:

  1. 1 tsp vinegar
  2. 1 tbsp soy sauce
  3. 1/4 tsp salt
  4. 1 tbsp cornflour
  5. 1 tsp chilli sauce

Ingredients for preparing the dry chilli fish:

  1. 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  2. 1 tbsp chilli sauce
  3. 1 tbsp soy sauce
  4. 1 tsp vinegar
  5. 1 tsp salt
  6. 1 tsp pepper
  7. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  8. 2 tsp finely chopped garlic
  9. 2 green chilies slit
  10. 200 g onions cut into squares
  11. 100g capsicum cut into squares
  12. 500g fish fillets
  13. 1 tbsp cornflour
  14. vegetable oil

Steps to be followed:

  1. Marinate the fish by taking 500g of fish fillets in a bowl and adding 1 tsp vinegar, 1 tbsp soy sauce,1/4 tsp salt,1 tbsp cornflour and 1 tsp chilli sauce to it. Set aside for at least 30 mins.
  2. Take some oil in a pan and shallow fry the fish fillets on both sides. You may choose to bake your fish in a microwave instead. If you do fry the fish make sure you remove it and place it on a few pieces of tissue paper taken on a plate to soak up the excess oil.
  3. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan on a high flame and add 2 tsp finely chopped garlic to it. Fry until it turns fragrant.
  4. Add 2 slit green chilies to the pan.
  5. Add 1 medium sized onion cut into cubes into the pan and saute it.
  6. Add half a medium sized capsicum cut into cubes to the pan and saute it.IMG_1127.JPG
  7. Turn the flame to medium and add 1 tbsp tomato ketchup, 1 tbsp chilli sauce, 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tsp vinegar to the pan.IMG_1131.JPG
  8. Add 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper to the veggies in the sauce.
  9. Add the fried fillets of fish to the sauce and stir well.IMG_1133.JPG
  10. Cook for 2 minutes and your chilli fish is all set to hit your plates.IMG_1137.JPG
